This full day class will address a wide spectrum of the topics and issues related to Customization Manager in Dynamics SL. We will be covering the basics of what it is and what it does and doesn't do, as well as some of the simple but very powerful things almost anyone can do with it, such as remove unused fields, reorder a grid, change labels, add new fields to a screen, and more. We will also discuss exactly where and how customizations are stored, with lots of great tips and tricks, both "official" and "unofficial," for how to leverage that knowledge to better manage your customizations. (NOTE: If you've been through or plan to go through a Dynamics SL upgrade on a system with customizations, we think you'll be particularly interested in this part!) Be prepared to take home several simple but very powerful customizations that will improve the efficiency and accuracy of your Dynamics SL system.

Learn how your company can leverage this powerful tool to more efficiently manage a highly-customized Dynamics SL installation.

 In this course, we will present practical examples of customizations with intermediate to advanced Visual Basic for Applications code examples. To maximize your experience, code for these examples will be available to students for download prior to the course. . Prior experience with Customization Manager VBA programming and/or advanced Transaction Import scripting is strongly recommended.

Learning Objectives: After attending this course attendees will understand what you can/cannot do with Customization Manager to improve and enhance the Dynamics SL ERP system.

  • How to extend the data managed by a screen beyond the limits of the table originally managed by that screen (adding new tables to a screen)
  • How to read and update the data in a screen programmatically
